PingPong sheet for shoes: thermoplastic toe puff & heel counter, 0.4-1.5mm, 80-120°C activation, custom width. MOQ 500kg, REACH/RoHS. Get free samples now!

PingPong sheet for shoes is a thin, heat-activatable polypropylene thermoplastic sheet used as toe puff and heel counter reinforcement in footwear, providing structural shape retention, moisture resistance, and consistent hardness after heat molding. Solamni manufactures PP footwear sheet in thicknesses from 0.4 mm to 1.5 mm with activation temperatures of 80–120°C, supplied in roll or sheet form for die-cutting and heat-press insertion into shoe uppers. The facility supports custom width, hardness grading, and adhesive-coated variants, with batch production from 500 kg and REACH/RoHS compliance for global footwear manufacturers.

Quality Control & Testing Standards

Asterism's PingPong footwear sheet QC protocol covers extrusion process control, thickness uniformity, heat-activation accuracy, and bonded-assembly performance in simulated shoe construction.

Extrusion process control. PP resin is dried at 80°C for 2 hours before extrusion. The cast-film extrusion line uses a T-die with automatic die-lip adjustment, and in-line beta or laser thickness gauges scan the full web at 200 Hz, feeding real-time data back to the die-lip system. Chill-roll temperature is held at 25–35°C ±2°C to control crystallinity and post-molding hardness. For adhesive-coated variants, the coating station applies hot-melt adhesive at a metered weight (20–60 g/m²) verified by inline gravimetric sampling every 30 minutes.

Physical destructive testing (per batch, AQL 2.5).

  • Thickness - micrometer, 10 points across web width, ±0.05 mm tolerance.
  • Tensile strength and elongation - universal testing machine, 5 specimens per direction (MD/TD), ASTM D882.
  • Flexural modulus - three-point bend, ASTM D790.
  • Activation temperature - DSC (differential scanning calorimetry) or heat-press verification at 5°C increments from 75°C to 125°C.
  • Moisture absorption - 24 h water immersion, ASTM D570.
  • Heat deflection temperature - 0.45 MPa load, ASTM D648.
  • Adhesive peel strength (coated grades) - 15 mm strip, bonded to shoe upper leather at 100°C, peel at 300 mm/min, ≥ 4 N/15 mm.
  • Molded shape retention - heat-molded toe puff, conditioned at 40°C / 90% RH for 72 h, deformation ≤ 3°.

Chemical and regulatory testing. Each PP resin lot is verified by melt flow index (230°C / 2.16 kg, ASTM D1238) and FTIR spectral matching. Adhesive raw materials are screened for solvent residue. Finished sheet is tested by GC-MS for REACH SVHC and ICP-OES for RoHS restricted elements. Third-party SGS or Intertek reports are available on request.

Equipment backing production stability. The plant operates 3 cast-film extrusion lines (width up to 1,600 mm), 2 adhesive coating and lamination lines, 4 slitting and rewinding machines, and an in-line thickness gauging system on every line. This setup supports web thickness variation below 4% CV and consistent activation temperature across 100 m rolls, reducing molding inconsistency in high-volume footwear production.

Industrial Application Scenarios

01/

Toe puff reinforcement. PingPong sheet is die-cut and heat-molded into the toe box of athletic shoes, casual shoes, and boots to maintain toe-box shape and prevent collapse during wear. Thicknesses of 0.6–1.0 mm are standard for athletic footwear; 1.0–1.5 mm for work boots and safety shoes. Adhesive-coated variants bond directly to the upper lining during heat-press molding.

02/

Heel counter (main back) reinforcement. PingPong sheet provides rearfoot structural stability in running shoes, basketball shoes, and casual footwear. The sheet is molded around a heel last at 90–110°C and bonded between the upper and lining. Shore 65D–75D grades are specified for high-heel counters; 50D–60D copolymer grades for flexible casual shoe heels.

03/

Sports shoe upper structural inserts. In football boots, running shoes, and court footwear, PP sheet inserts are placed in the midfoot and quarter panels to resist upper stretch and maintain fit. Thin grades (0.4–0.6 mm) are used for lightweight support without adding perceptible stiffness.

04/

Boot and safety footwear. PingPong sheet with higher flexural modulus (≥ 1,500 MPa) is used in work boots, hiking boots, and safety footwear where toe and heel shape retention under heavy loading is required. Moisture absorption below 0.1% ensures performance consistency in wet working environments.

05/

Sandals, slippers, and lightweight footwear. Low-hardness copolymer PP sheet (50D–55D) is used as a lightweight reinforcement in sandal straps and slipper uppers, providing shape retention without the rigidity of homopolymer grades.

06/

Footwear component suppliers and private label. Asterism supplies PingPong sheet to toe-puff and heel-counter converters, footwear material distributors, and direct-to-factory OEM accounts. Roll and sheet formats are available, with custom slitting to match customer die-cutting equipment.

FAQ

1 8

Q: What heat-molding parameters prevent PP toe puff sheet from over-softening or losing shape after cooling?

A:Mold at 90–110°C for 8–15 seconds under 3–5 bar pressure, then cool under pressure for 10–15 seconds below 50°C before demolding. Exceeding 120°C causes PP crystallinity breakdown and permanent shape loss; below 80°C the sheet does not fully activate and springs back. We provide a grade-specific molding parameter sheet with every shipment.

Q: When should adhesive-coated PP sheet be used versus uncoated sheet in shoe construction?

A:Use one-side adhesive-coated sheet for toe puffs and heel counters bonded to upper lining, eliminating separate adhesive application and reducing assembly time by 20–30%. Use uncoated sheet when the shoe factory applies its own solvent-based or water-based adhesive, or when the sheet is inserted as a dry structural layer between upper and foam. Two-side coating is available for sandwich constructions.

Q: What is the die-cutting yield and minimum order for custom-width PP footwear sheet?

A:Standard 1,000 mm wide sheet yields approximately 85–90% material utilization when nested for toe puff and heel counter shapes; custom slitting to 600–800 mm can improve yield for small components by 5–8%. Minimum order is 500 kg for standard grades and 1,000 kg for custom hardness or adhesive coating.
